Slipstream is Carolyn Fabrics’ certified aviation upholstery leather — a protected, heavy-weight top-grain leather that arrives pre-treated and passes the FAR 25.853 12-second vertical burn test. Independent lab burn documentation is available with every hide, so your interior paperwork is covered.

How much is a hide? One hide (50–55 sq ft) covers roughly 2.5–3 yards of 54″ upholstery fabric. The upholstery trade figures about 18 sq ft of hide per yard of fabric to allow for cutting around the hide’s natural shape. A note on natural leather: Leather is a natural product, not a synthetic vinyl. Hide sizes vary (approximately 50–55 sq ft), and color can vary slightly between dye lots and from how it appears on your screen. Natural hides may also show subtle range markings that are the hallmark of genuine leather. We strongly recommend ordering a $25 sample deck to confirm color in hand before ordering your hide.
