Product Details
Sidecar has the look of a well-worn vintage flight jacket — a two-tone, lightly weathered finish over smooth top-grain buffalo — and the toughness to back it up. It's finished to shed water, which is why upholsterers reach for leather like this on motorcycle seats and anything else that lives outdoors.
Rated for vehicles and contract work. Sidecar passes FMVSS 302 (motor vehicle flammability), California TB 117-2013, and UFAC/NFPA 260 Class 1 — so the same hide covers a bike saddle, an auto interior, or high-traffic restaurant and office seating.
How much is a hide?
These buffalo hides run 38–45 sq ft — roughly 2–2.5 yards of 54″ upholstery fabric per hide. A good rule of thumb: figure about 18 sq ft of hide for every yard of fabric your pattern calls for. They cut clean with very little waste.

A note on natural leather: Leather is a natural product — every hide carries its own grain, markings, and character, and no two hides are identical. The distressed two-tone effect is hand-finished and varies hide to hide — that variation is the look. Dye lots can differ between hides, and screen settings shift how colors render on your monitor. Hide sizes vary within the listed range. We strongly recommend ordering a sample before committing to a hide — call 336-887-3101 and we’ll get one headed your way.
