Sidecar Motorcycle Seat Leather

Sidecar is powersports and custom-vehicle leather with the look of a broken-in flight jacket: smooth top-grain buffalo with a two-tone, lightly weathered finish. Its protected, water-resistant surface is built for motorcycle seats, ATV and UTV seating, snowmobile seats, and custom car, truck, van and RV interiors.

Product documentation lists FMVSS 302 material performance, along with California TB 117-2013 and UFAC/NFPA 260 Class 1. Those ratings apply to the material, not a finished seat or vehicle installation.

Not for permanently sun-exposed seating. Sidecar’s UV fastness is Grade 4/5 at 72 hours — right for a machine kept in a garage, barn or trailer. For an uncovered golf cart, open boat or patio furniture, use a marine vinyl such as Pinnacle (Grade 4 at 1,500 hours).

How much is a hide?

These buffalo hides run 38–45 sq ft — roughly 2–2.5 yards of 54″ upholstery fabric per hide. A good rule of thumb: figure about 18 sq ft of hide for every yard of fabric your pattern calls for. They cut clean with very little waste.

A note on natural leather: Leather is a natural product — every hide carries its own grain, markings, and character, and no two hides are identical. The distressed two-tone effect is hand-finished and varies hide to hide — that variation is the look. Dye lots can differ between hides, and screen settings shift how colors render on your monitor. Hide sizes vary within the listed range.
