Boat Seat Upholstery Panels

Custom stitched panels for boat upholstery

When people think of custom stitched interiors, their minds usually go to diamond stitching and custom cars. You can bring that same personal flair to a boat. We sew our marine CNC panels using marine vinyl and thread suited to outdoor use.

You have plenty of choices beyond plain white, too. Materials such as Pinnacle and Breeze offer heat-reducing technology that helps keep darker colors cooler in the sun than conventional vinyl. They can still get hot, but they give you more options when planning your interior.

A recent project for Chandler Marine

One of my recent projects was for Chandler Marine here in North Carolina. He wanted to spice up a pontoon boat with some custom panels and picked a blue Spradling Gemini marine vinyl. It has a turned-metal look with an almost candy finish. This material looks amazing out in the sun.

We paired it with our wave pattern, and Chandler worked the panels into the finished upholstery you see here. That blue against the gray really makes the stitching stand out.

Put together your own combination

Our CNC configurator lets you play around with vinyl and thread colors before ordering. Pick your pattern, material, and thread color, and we handle the stitching.

You receive a panel with a 48 × 28-inch usable stitched area, ready to cut and work into your upholstery. Use sections as inserts or use the full panel where it fits your seat design.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a finished seat cover, or do you upholster?

We do not upholster. We sell upholstery materials and supplies. Our stitched panels are components for you or your upholstery shop to use when building custom seats.

Does the panel include seat-cushion foam?

No. Our standard panels use 3/8-inch sew foam to give the pattern depth; the configurator also offers a thinner 1/4-inch option. That is different from the foam that gives your seat its shape and support.

If the cushion foam in your boat needs replacing, you will need suitable marine seat-cushion foam. We currently do not sell that foam.

Can I order matching vinyl and thread?

Yes. You can order the same vinyl and thread we use to sew your panels. When you purchase matching vinyl with your panels, we give you roll pricing on that vinyl, saving you $4 per yard.

Can I request a different size or stitch pattern?

We can draw custom patterns and resize some stitch designs, but our usable panel size stays at 48 × 28 inches. We start with a 54 × 34-inch piece of material, and our machine’s usable stitch area sets that limit.

Contact us about custom designs. Some jobs may require a setup charge.

How should I choose a color?

Use our CNC configurator to try different vinyl and thread combinations. Once you have a few favorites, order samples from the material’s product page so you can see the actual color and finish before deciding.
