Why a card instead of guessing from a screen: thread reads differently stitched into a seam than it does in a spool photo, and screens shift color. A "close" thread on a contrast stitch is a loud mistake. The card costs less than one wrong spool.

Ordering thread after you've matched: Tex 135, 1 lb spool for marine, automotive, and heavy upholstery, or Tex 90, 1/2 lb spool for lighter seams and topstitching. Every color on the card is stocked in both.
