Naugahyde

Naugahyde — the name that became synonymous with vinyl. Manufactured by Uniroyal since the 1930s, Naugahyde was the first synthetic upholstery vinyl in the United States and remains a domestically-made synthetic upholstery vinyl line. Their famous mascot, the Nauga, was a fictional creature whose “hide” was harvested to make the material — one of the most memorable marketing campaigns in American manufacturing history.
